J-Care Frequently Asked Questions

How do I drop off and pick up my child(ren)?

St. John’s School is a secured building. The J-Care entrance is on the west side of the building next to the playground. Enter the building using Door #4. Inside of Door #4, there is an interior door with a pin pad. Each family will be issued a family code to access the pin pad door after you have attended J-Care 3 times. This code is for adult use only, so please do not share it with your child or anyone else. It should only be used by parents and emergency contacts. A phone number is posted on the door for those families who do not yet have a code.

Drop off:
  • Enter your code on the pin pad by the interior door inside of Door #4. On the other side of the pin pad door is a parent table – this is next to Door #5.
  • When you arrive at the parent table, call the J-Care phone (651-261-9113). A staff member will meet you at the bottom of the stairwell. The J-Care staff member will take your child’s temperature and ask a series of health questions.
  • After your child’s temperature is taken and the health questions are answered, the information will be recorded on a health sheet. Please see the parent handbook for more details.
  • The J-Care staff member will then walk with your child to the cafeteria. Please note: Only students and staff will be allowed in the cafeteria.
Pick up:
  • Enter your code on the pin pad by the interior door inside of Door #4. On the other side of the pin pad door is a parent table – this is next to Door #5.
  • When you arrive at the parent table, call the J-Care phone (651-261-9113).
  • A J-Care staff member will bring your child and their belongings to you. You should remain at the parent table until your child arrives.

Please allow extra time, each day, at drop off and pick up. No child, no matter what their age is, will be allowed to come into J-Care by themselves due to the seriousness of COVID-19.

How does billing work?
  • All billing is done through TADS. You will be billed the first week of each month (for the previous month),with payments due on the 25th of each month.
  • J-Care bills families by signing your child in and out using an app on an iPad.
  • In order to bill accurately this year, due to COVID-19, J-Care will be taking an additional measure to ensure you are charged the appropriate amount. Staff will sign your child in and out on the iPad. We also have a sheet on the parent table inside Door #5 that we will have you initial by your child’s name as well as mark the time being dropped off or picked up.
  • Failure to initial the sheet and mark the time at each drop off and/or pick up will automatically result in being charged a full day’s rate.

Questions Regarding COVID-19:

Will the children be socially distancing?

The children will be separated according to their grade level. Social distancing will be encouraged and face coverings will be required. Masks will not be worn when eating or during outside play time.

Will J-Care be offered if the entire school goes to distance learning?

This will be determined based on the information that we have at that time.

Will there be J-Care on school release days?

We are planning to offer J-Care on school release days, but this is an ever changing situation.  A decision will be determined on the information we have at the current time.

What extra precautions are being taken?

    • Parents are not permitted to go beyond the parent table inside of door 5.
    • To the best of our ability, each child has their own supply of toys/art items/games etc.
    • All items are washed daily, and any items that can not be washed will not be used at this time.
    • Increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols are in place.
    • Frequent hand washing is encouraged.
